Government
of Maharashtra (India) has established Maharashtra Engineering
Training Academy (META), formerly known as Engineering Staff College
(ESC) at Nashik on May 20, 1964. META conducts specialized
training courses related to the field and conducts professional
examinations. Only the in-service engineers of Water
Resources and Public works Department working in state,
Zilla Parishad and Irrigation Development Corporations of the
status of Chief Engineer, Superintending Engineer, Executive
Engineer, Deputy Engineer and Assistant Engineer Grade-I are eligible for the
training courses & professional examination of Deputy
Engineer, Assistant Engineer Grade-I, Assistant Engineer
Grade-II, Junior Engineer and Muster Assistant. Training courses for the
officers, including and above the rank of Deputy Engineer are
conducted at META Nashik and below the Deputy Engineer level are
conducted at RTC Pune, Aurangabad and Nagpur..
Location:
Engineering Staff college is situated on Dindori Road, about 4
km away from Central Bus Station Nashik, 1.5 km away from Panchwati and
15 km from Nashik Road railway station.
Regional training
centers:
Three additional training
centers are also established.
The training courses for the officers including and bellow the
rank of Assistant Engineer Grade-II and Sectional Engineer are
conducted at the regional training centers (RTCs). The training
of Electrical & Mechanical branches are conducted only at RTC
Pune.
